The Commemoration of Women’s Equality Day in Clinton County is a collaborative celebration sponsored by seven groups – the League of Women Voters of the North Country, the Clinton County Historical Association, the North Country Underground Railroad Historical Association, the Champlain Valley Business and Professional Women, the Kent-Delord House Museum, the Saranac Chapter of the DAR, and Delta Kappa Gamma Society Psi Chapter. This event commemorates the passage of the 19th amendment in 1920 which ensured that no one was barred from voting due to their gender.
Our history update will be on the struggle for women to get the right to serve on a jury. Our current issues will be some the League is working on. Additionally we will hear the events and activities that each of our collaborating organizations have planned, and all attending will have an opportunity to find out more information on each.
Refreshments will be served. The public is encouraged to attend.
See press release for more information.
