Elizabeth Oakes Smith lived in Patchogue, Long Island. She was an eloquent speaker and writer who championed women’s rights. She spoke at the 1852 Women’s Rights Convention. She was the presidential and vice-presidential candidate on the Woman’s Suffrage ticket in the 1860s.
